After a chilly day out in the snow, there’s nothing quite as comforting as a warm bowl of chili. This week, the Ladies of Charity Calvert County is asking for your help—cans of chili are among our most requested items right now. If you’re able, please consider dropping off cans at our pantry or Chesapeake Beach Town Hall. Not able to shop? You can also make a donation and we’ll handle the shopping for you. Every little bit helps make someone’s winter warmer. Thank you so much for supporting our community!

An older woman on Social Security who is raising her 6 grandchildren. A young couple drowning in medical bills for their toddler whose critical care requires out-of-state travel. A daughter who takes in her aging father and must absorb the cost of his caregiver. A veteran and his wife whose household doubles in size when they welcome family members seeking refuge from conflict in their home country. These are just a few of the people who have come to us for help – some briefly until their crisis has passed; others who come regularly because of ongoing need. We can’t solve their problems, but we give them good food to stretch their dollars, listening ears to hear their stories, compassion for the challenges they face, and respect for who they are.
IN THE LAST YEAR
589 households served with 5,856 visits to the pantry
810 holiday meals provided to our clients
3,382 HeartFELT meals provided to food insecure students
173 backpacks of school supplies given to local children
205,000 total pounds of food distributed
The mission of the Ladies of Charity Calvert County food pantry is to lessen the sting of poverty in our surrounding community by providing free nutritious food and household products to those who come to us for help. We are committed to serving our clients with respect as well as compassion.
